Agriculture is the science, art, and practice of cultivating the soil, growing crops, and raising
animals for food, fibre, and income. It forms the foundation of human survival and economic
development.
Agriculture is divided into crop production, livestock production, forestry, and fisheries. In
Nigeria, agriculture employs a large percentage of the population and contributes significantly to
food security and rural livelihoods.
Modern agriculture goes beyond subsistence farming. It includes improved production methods,
mechanization, processing, record-keeping, marketing, and agribusiness entrepreneurship.
